Who we are

Eléna Hogarth

I have spent a decade working in sports communications, predominantly rugby union, which sparked my interest in leadership, values and ethics.

From the English Premiership to the Commonwealth Games, I have seen how great leadership can bring great success, build community, and give people a sense of purpose and achievement. But I have also seen how poor leadership can erode confidence, foster self-doubt and drive away brilliant athletes, coaches and officials.

Whether it’s sport or any other industry, I firmly believe that everyone has the potential to lead well, both for themselves and for their team-mates and colleagues.

I’m a communications specialist who has worked in the Middle East as a journalist and magazine editor, and in Scotland at organisations including Weber Shandwick, Skyscanner and LADBible. I’m currently studying leadership and management at Edinburgh Napier University.

I’m passionate about changing misconceptions about leadership. Some of the best managers I’ve met or worked with would never define themselves as a leader and that has to change. And likewise, many who were obsessed with their own leadership missed the mark. I have seen first-hand how good leadership has the potential to change not only your working life, but the entire world.
